LYNCH'S WOODS 24 HOUR RUN

Saturday/Sunday, April 17-18, 2010 - 7:00 AM
Check-in Between 6:00 and 6:45 AM
Trail Briefing 6:45 AM

Come join Terri as she celebrates her birthday by running her age in 24 hours. You, too, can run your age or more in twenty-four. The run starts at the picnic shelter in Lynch's Woods Park, the hidden gem of Newberry. The course will be a 10 mile loop made up of a 4.3 mile loop on a hilly dirt road and a 5.7 mile loop of winding, hilly, shaded single-track trail complete with rocks, roots, and stream crossings. After each loop, runners will pass by the picnic shelter where there will be a fully-stocked aid station which will serve a wide variety of hot and cold food and drinks all day and all night, including homemade soup, grilled cheese sandwiches and pizza. There will also be an unmanned self-serve aid station located on the road at a point where the trail crosses, so runners will pass it twice on each 10 mile loop.

The trail loop will be well-marked with orange ribbons and glow-sticks during the night. After 3 AM, runners may start just running the road loop and no runners may start the trail loop after 5 AM. You can run as many hours and as many miles as you want during the twenty-four hour period. You may even leave the course, take a nap or what-ever, and return to the course. Just notify aid station personnel when you leave and return. For this race to count as part of the series, runners must complete over 31 miles.

Entrants may set-up tents in the area around the picnic shelter. There is a restroom and 2 water spigots there.

Directions to Lynch's Woods Park: From I-26, take SC Hwy. 219 (Exit 76), 2 miles into Newberry.Turn left onto US Hwy. 76 (just past Walmart). Travel approximately 3/4 mile to the 2nd traffic light, turn left at Lynch's Woods Park sign and continue on gravel road into the park. Go to the left at the fork in the road, then immediately to your right to the picnic shelter. There is limited parking by the shelter, but there is a large parking area just before the park entrance.
